- The Russian Embassy demanded that the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry lift the entry bans on Russians.

The Russian Embassy in Ecuador has asked the country's Foreign Ministry to lift the bans on Russians entering the republic. The corresponding comment from the press service of the diplomatic mission was published on April 10.
According to diplomats, nine such cases are currently known to have occurred between April 6 and 10 this year.
"As a result of the efforts of the staff of the diplomatic mission and the honorary Consulate of Russia in the city of Guayaquil, the decision was overturned for two compatriots, and they continued their journey in accordance with their plans. The remaining seven were sent by local authorities to the countries from where they arrived in Ecuador under various pretexts," the document says, published on the Telegram channel of the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Ecuador.
At the same time, the reasons for the expulsion, according to the diplomatic mission, representatives of Ecuador called the discrepancy between the purpose of the trip, as well as the definition of Russian citizens as "threats to the internal security of the Republic of Ecuador."
"The Embassy continues to work with the authorities of the country to find out the true reasons for such actions of the migration service in order to demand that this be prevented in the future," the agency concluded.
There is an agreement between the Russian Federation and Ecuador allowing visa-free entry for up to 90 days. Therefore, bans on entry to tourists without explaining specific reasons are illegal.
According to the OneTwoTrip travel planning service, which was reviewed by Izvestia on April 10, Italy turned out to be the most popular destination among tourists — 31.4% of Russians surveyed are going to go there this year.
