An investigating judge in Tunisia has decided to release 11 Russian citizens previously arrested on suspicion of involvement in terrorist activities. This was reported on April 10 by Mosaique FM radio station, citing an informed source.

According to him, the relevant decision was made after conducting investigative actions, technical examinations and other measures, as a result of which the presence of terrorist intent in the actions of the Russians was ruled out.

The detention of a group of Russian tourists in Tunisia became known on December 17, 2024. They were sent to the Mornagia prison, famous for its harsh conditions and torture. On the same day, the diplomatic mission reported that the Russian Embassy in Tunisia was in contact with the country's authorities regarding the detained Russians.

The bride of one of the travelers said on January 11 that the Russian tourists detained in Tunisia are still in custody without officially filed charges. On January 29, it became known that the Russian tourists detained in Tunisia had been distributed to three prisons in the country.
