Owners of Russian private virtual networks (VPNs) that use foreign encryption protocols should consider opting out of them. This was reported on the Roskomnadzor website on April 10.

"We recommend that when transferring data, we abandon foreign encryption protocols, including those used by applications that provide access to prohibited information," the published material says.

The ministry clarified that those organizations that, for various reasons, are unable to opt out of foreign protocols will be included in the list of exceptions. To do this, you will need to send a statement for verification with justification and specifying the IP addresses of the protocols.

On February 19, it was reported that the Tagansky Court of Moscow for the first time decided to fine a VPN service provider, Hidemy.network Ltd., in connection with a violation of the rules of a foreign agent.
