In Moscow, the 235th garrison military court extended the arrest of the former head of the main personnel directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Yuri Kuznetsov, accused of accepting bribes. This was reported to Izvestia on April 10 by the court's press service.
It is specified that Kuznetsov will be in custody until May 11 inclusive. The meeting was held behind closed doors.
In May 2024, the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC RF) opened a criminal case against Kuznetsov for receiving a particularly large bribe (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the investigation, Kuznetsov, as head of the 8th Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, received a bribe in the form of a land plot and an apartment building from "representatives of commercial structures for committing certain actions in their favor." On the same day, the defendant and businessman Lev Martirosyan were arrested.
On October 16 of the same year, the court seized 29 accounts in three Russian banks and six of Kuznetsov's real estate properties. They also seized a plot of land in Krasnogorsk, the village of Obushkovo in the Istra district of the Moscow region, a house in the latter, land in Krasnodar and a three-story house with an area of more than 1.1 thousand square meters located on it, as well as an apartment on Yartsevskaya Street in Moscow.
