At the beginning of April, specialized laboratories recorded an explosive growth in the receipt of ticks for analysis, "Izvestia" found out.

"For eight days in April, our laboratories received 1,334 ticks for analysis, while for the whole of March, 808 arthropods were received," the Invitro company reported.

According to the laboratory "Gemotest", in the first week of April, 50% of the total number of ticks received for the whole of March were brought for analysis.

As of the beginning of April, ticks have become active in 47 Russian regions, Izvestia has calculated, having analyzed the data of regional departments of Rospotrebnadzor. Usually arthropods wake up in May and June, experts say. And such an early start of the tick "season" this year, in their opinion, is explained by the warm winter and early thaw.

Now the largest number of applications for medical care after tick bites is registered in the Stavropol Territory. According to the Rospotrebnadzor Department in the region, 154 people were bitten by ticks from March 31 to April 6.

In Tyumen, Kurgan, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow and Vologda regions 100 or more applications for medical care due to tick bites were registered. And in the Smolensk region noted a five-fold increase in the period from March 31 to April 6 compared to the previous week.

After extracting a tick, it is mandatory to submit for examination to detect major infections such as tick-borne encephalitis, borreliosis, rickettsiosis, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis and babesiosis, noted Invitro infectious disease specialist Andrei Pozdnyakov.
