The problem with the resumption of direct air travel may be settled in the next two months, however, provided that the "aviation" sanctions are lifted and the visa issue is resolved, experts interviewed told Izvestia.

"On the one hand, nothing can stop the Russian Federation and the US. We see that a number of countries, especially Arab countries, are flying to Russia despite across-the-board sanctions, including European sanctions. The question is that the sanctions are quite severe, and in order to resume direct air communication, they will have to be lifted," said Artur Muradyan, vice president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

In particular, we are talking about "aviation" restrictions, which prohibit the maintenance of Western passenger airplanes in Russia and the supply of aircraft parts. Also, European Union (EU) and US countries closed their skies to Russian carriers after the launch of the Special Military Operation (SMO). In response, the Russian Federation imposed a ban on carriers from unfriendly countries flying over its territory. In addition, Russia and the United States should resolve the issue of visas, analysts emphasize.

"Of course, people fly to other countries and get visas, but it is a long and complicated way", explained Dmitry Gorin, vice president of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST).

Artur Muradyan admits that under certain circumstances it may happen in the next couple of months.
