- The IDF announced the elimination of the head of the Hamas battalion in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked the headquarters of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the northern Gaza Strip, as a result of which the commander of the Shujaiya battalion belonging to the movement, Haitham Khalil, was eliminated, the press service of the Israeli army reported on April 10.
The Israeli Air Force was also involved in the April 9 attack. It is specified that the Hamas headquarters is located about a kilometer from the IDF troops operating in the Gaza City area.
"As a result of the strike, terrorist Haitham Khalil, commander of the Shujaiya battalion of the Hamas movement, who commanded and took part in the attack on the settlement of Nir Oz on October 7 [2023], was eliminated," the IDF Telegram channel said.
It is noted that before the strike, measures were taken to reduce the risks to the civilian population. According to the IDF, Khalil was the commander of one of the platoons of the Hamas movement and the head of the battalion of the elite Nuhba unit.
On April 9, it was reported that an IDF strike on a residential area in the northern Gaza Strip killed about 23 people. According to the Al-Ahly hospital, eight women and eight children were among the dead. It was clarified that the strike fell on a four-story building in the Shujaiya area. The Israeli military said the IDF target was a "high-ranking militant" of the Palestinian Hamas group.
On the same day, the IDF, with the support of the country's Air Force, destroyed over 45 facilities in the Gaza Strip in a day. According to the Israeli military, in the Tel Sultan area of Rafah, soldiers of the Gaza division discovered tunnels and destroyed militant shelters.
