The Ukrainian leadership is constantly escalating the situation in the information space, making loud statements, but at the same time delaying the necessary decisions. Alexander Konkov, associate professor of the Department of Political Science at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia on April 10, commenting on the reports of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky about the possible purchase of weapons.

The day before, the Ukrainian leader said that Kiev had not asked for a free package of weapons and was ready to buy them from the United States. This was reported by "Strana.ua" in the Telegram channel.

"The strategy of the Ukrainian leadership is not changing. It is associated with the constant escalation of various kinds of information stories in the information space. All the time there is a transfusion from empty to empty, all the time there are some loud statements that require some kind of reaction," Konkov said.

According to him, in the current conditions, the mega-task of the Ukrainian leadership is seen in the constant prolongation of negotiations with American leader Donald Trump. This primarily concerns the idea of the US president on rare earth metals.

"And all the related stories, such as the sponsorship of the military actions that Ukraine is waging against our country, also fit into this context. The United States of America is trying, under the new leadership, to at least bring this into a constructive channel, but as a maximum, to distance itself [from Kiev], because all these are solely expenses that are in no way beneficial to Trump," Konkov said.

At the same time, Zelensky is constantly trying to make some suggestions, hints, curtsies, which end in little, the political scientist emphasized.

"There are some plans all the time. There have already been a million of them, but none of the plans are being implemented, because the point of all these plans and all these statements is simply their constant repetition, discussion, and ultimately delaying the necessary decisions," Konkov concluded.

Earlier, on March 20, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, noted that the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian side from the United States did not correspond to Washington's declared intentions to achieve peace. She recalled that Russia's assessment was given in a Kremlin message following a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American Leader Trump, which stated that demilitarization and the cessation of pumping weapons into the Kiev regime should be a necessary condition for moving towards the negotiation process.
