The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced Oleg Zabolotny, a citizen of Ukraine, and Maxim Volga, a Russian, accused of preparing terrorist attacks in the Voronezh Region, to imprisonment. This was announced on April 10 by the regional prosecutor's office in its Telegram channel.

Zabolotny was sentenced to 25 years in prison with a fine of 1 million rubles, Volga — to 19 years in prison with a fine of 900 thousand rubles.

The court found that in the fall of 2022, Zabolotny underwent training in the territory of the Kharkiv region under the leadership of the Ukrainian special services, and then illegally arrived in Russia to commit an explosion of the Russian military. For several months, he had been collecting information about this soldier, preparing for a terrorist attack.

Volga, in turn, made contact with the Ukrainian special services via the Internet and performed their tasks, including collecting information about the Baltimore military airfield in Voronezh. In August 2023, he was assigned to pick up weapons, ammunition and explosives from a cache in the Pskov region, after which he came to the attention of the FSB.

Under the control of the special services, a cache was set up in Voronezh, information about which was transferred to the curators of the Volga. Zabolotny took the components for a homemade bomb from there, but was detained the next morning when he was heading to the site of the alleged terrorist attack.

It is specified that the criminals will serve the first four years of imprisonment in prison, the rest of the term in a high—security colony.

Earlier in the day, Vadim Chaly, a cook from Volgograd, who tried to send parcels with bombs to the Russian military, was sentenced to 16 years in a high-security penal colony and fined 500 thousand rubles. It is specified that the convict's targets were three officers of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, who command Russian military units, including in the special operation zone.
