The main targets of DDoS attacks in 2025 are named

The largest number of DDoS attacks occurred in the telecommunications sector -28%, the financial sector — 21% and government organizations — 16%. In addition, telecom has been the most vulnerable industry to cyber attacks for several years now. The motives of the attackers are mainly political or commercial interests. StormWall told Izvestia about this on April 10.
According to the study, in the first quarter of 2025, an increase in the number of attacks was recorded by 71% compared to the same period last year. The financial sector has seen a 36% increase in cyber attacks. At the beginning of the year, customers of several large banks had difficulty accessing mobile applications due to powerful DDoS attacks.
Government organizations also remain at risk — the number of attacks has increased by 29%.
"Basically, attacks on this industry in the first quarter of this year were launched by politically motivated hacktivists who sought to interfere with the full—fledged work of a number of government organizations," the study says.
Other affected industries include retail (14% of attacks, +22%), entertainment (9%, +12%) and the oil and gas industry (7%, +48%).
"Especially a lot of cyber incidents were recorded during the celebration of March 8. During this period, the number of attacks on online stores increased 3.5 times," the company said.
However, during the New Year holidays, the bulk of the attacks fell on online cinemas and streaming services, and after the imposition of sanctions against the Russian oil and gas sector, on the oil and gas industry.
"We see that hackers' interest in the telecom sector has not decreased so far. Most likely, attackers will attack telecom companies throughout 2025. The attacks on the oil and gas sector occurred against the background of the imposition of sanctions, this is an unpleasant situation, but most Russian oil and gas companies have reliable protection against attacks of any complexity,” said Ramil Khantimirov, CEO and co—founder of StormWall.
Earlier, on April 10, Igor Bederov, director of the Internet search company, told Izvestia about the main signs of infection of a smartphone with viruses. According to him, the main symptoms of infection can be seen from the operation of the device. A phone with viruses runs out faster, runs slower, and its Internet traffic is growing. In addition, pop-up ads and redirects to other sites are more common. However, unknown applications and functions may appear on the device.
