Pskov State University Rector arrested in fraud case

Natalia Ilyina, rector of Pskov State University (PskovGU), who is suspected of fraud on a particularly large scale, has been detained for two months. This was reported on April 10 in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Pskov region.
According to the investigation, in the period from 2020 to 2021, the rector employed her friend at the university as an associate professor. At the same time, the employee did not appear at the workplace and did not perform his work duties.
In addition, in the period from January 2021 to January 2025, Ilyina fictitiously paid wages to an employee in the amount of more than 10 million rubles, of which 3 million rubles were transferred to a card opened in the name of the employee, but used by the person involved in the case.
It is noted that as part of the investigation, documentation, electronic media and portable equipment of the suspect were seized.
The day before, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Belgorod region announced the arrest of a 50-year-old man on suspicion of fraud on a particularly large scale. It was previously established that the suspect, being the commander of a law enforcement-oriented public association, created forged documents on the duty of employees who actually did not take part in the events.
