The march of the Immortal Regiment on May 9 will be held in a mixed format, including offline. This was announced on April 10 by Elena Tsunaeva, co-chairman of the Central Headquarters of the All-Russian Public Movement "Immortal Regiment of Russia".

During a press conference at the International Multimedia Press Center of the Rossiya Segodnya Media Group, she noted that in 2025 the campaign will be held in regions with a sufficient level of security.

"The Immortal Regiment will be held in a mixed format, including the traditional one. <...> Wherever our regional branches of the movement, together with local authorities, deem it possible for reasons of public safety, the Immortal Regiment march on Victory Day will once again decorate the streets and squares of our cities," said Tsunayeva.

She drew attention to the fact that the action in all Russian regions should be held on the same day — only on May 9, and local authorities can determine the time of the march independently.

In turn, Sergey Makarov, co—chairman of the Central Headquarters of the NGO, proposed a new campaign format - "The Immortal Regiment on the front line", through which participants in a special military operation (SVO) will also be able to tell the stories of their family's heroes.

"We propose to place their portraits (of the family's heroes. — Ed.) at their temporary deployment points, in dugouts, on military equipment, and record a video message to veterans of the Great Patriotic War who fought against Nazism, and to their parents, relatives and friends who are waiting at home," Makarov explained.

On April 8, Nenad Popovic, the Serbian Minister responsible for international economic cooperation, announced that Serbia would hold a march of the Immortal Regiment in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Plans to hold an action "Immortal Regiment" this year were also announced in Slovakia.

In 2025, May 9 marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. In January 1945, the Soviet army launched an offensive against Berlin. As a result of the fighting, at 0:43 Moscow time on May 9, the commanders-in-chief signed the Act of Unconditional Surrender of Germany, which served as the end of the war.

On the occasion of the anniversary, Izvestia launched a special project "80 days to Victory." It publishes articles from Izvestia during the war, the full list of which can be found in the electronic archive.
