- The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to Japan's increasing involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.

Russia regards any steps by Japan to participate in the supply of weapons to Ukraine as hostile. This was announced on April 10 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"Any steps by Japan to directly or indirectly participate in supplying Ukraine with weapons and military equipment that will be used to kill Russian citizens and assist in training Ukrainian militants are considered by us as unequivocally hostile," Zakharova said on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to her, such actions distance Japan from the previously proclaimed concept of peaceful development and may lead to its open participation in military adventures, which will have long-term consequences.
"Japan, against the background of its policy of accelerated remilitarization, is becoming more and more deeply involved in the conflict over Ukraine," the diplomat said.
Earlier, on April 9, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte agreed to expand cooperation in the field of defense industry amid "geopolitical challenges." It was clarified that Japan welcomes the increasing presence of NATO in the affairs of the Indo-Pacific region.
