Ukraine has submitted a wish list to Western countries on the deployment of peacekeepers in the territories controlled by Kiev. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on April 10.

"Ukraine also believes that any Western troops will be accompanied by large—scale air defense (air defense) and other protective measures that will help ensure the safety of Ukrainians," the publication says.

Politico noted that Kiev is holding consultations with Western countries in order to specify its wishes regarding a possible "peacekeeping mission." It is indicated that the negotiations affect not only the size of the contingent, but also its structure, deployment dates and other details.

On April 5, it became known that the heads of the general staffs of France, Great Britain and Ukraine discussed the possible deployment of peacekeepers to the territories controlled by Kiev. It is specified that the countries have considered the structure, size and composition of the estimated contingent.

Earlier, on March 31, former Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Bryan said that the deployment of the European military would require a lot of resources that Europe does not have. He noted that even if both sides of the Ukrainian conflict agree to a settlement deal, the agreement could collapse if Britain and France send their troops to Ukraine in order to supposedly protect it.

In turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow is categorically against the deployment of so-called Western peacekeepers on Ukrainian territories, as this is fraught with the danger of a direct clash between Russia and NATO.
