Upgraded ferries will appear at the Ob river crossing in Salekhard

New ferries will be built on the Ob River crossing between Salekhard and Labytnangi. Options for commercial project proposals are currently being considered at the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District project office. Specialists need to choose the best models.

The district project office of the <url> news agency said that the modernization of the Ob river crossing is planned. Ferry models are selected based on planned traffic, operating conditions, price and delivery time.

Along with other proposals, experts will also consider the 00640 USC Vimpel project, a concept design for a new generation ferry. Its purpose is to transport cars and passengers on river and lake crossings. The ferry can also be used in Arctic conditions.

The agency clarifies that discussions on the modernization of the Ob river crossing from Salekhard to Labytnangi began in February. Oleg Klochkov, head of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District's project office, said it was possible to build a new coastal infrastructure and replace old ferries with other types of vessels.
