212 road accidents have occurred in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 212 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 13 people were killed and 270 injured. 11 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles. This was reported to Izvestia on April 10 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
11 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 19 road users needed medical attention. Six bus accidents were caused by traffic violations by their drivers. As a result of 75 accidents, 42 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 33 outside their area of operation, two pedestrians were killed, and 78 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 15 child pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings.
Over the past day, 31 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 31 young road users were injured, including 8 child passengers, three cyclists and two motor transport drivers under the age of 16. There are no dead children.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to strictly follow the rules of the road and be more attentive on the roads of towns and cities. Special care should be taken when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop in order to allow pedestrians to pass. The behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, therefore, one should not rush to resume traffic even at a permissive traffic light signal, the department said.
Temporary closures or traffic restrictions are continuing in some regions of the country due to adverse weather or a difficult flood situation. For example, traffic on one of the regional highways of the Kola Peninsula has been temporarily suspended for two days in the Murmansk Region due to snow, blizzard, gusty winds and limited visibility. In addition, for the same reasons, automobile traffic is blocked on the section from 1470 km to 1510 km of the federal highway R-21 "Cola".
In the Republic of North Ossetia — Alania, traffic on the A-164 Transcam federal highway from the village of Buron (65 km) to the northern portal of the Roki tunnel (94 km) has been blocked since the evening of April 9 due to heavy snowfall and blizzard. In addition, due to the deterioration of weather conditions in the adjacent territory, a temporary suspension of traffic on the federal highway A-161 Vladikavkaz — Nizhny Lars — border with the Republic of Georgia in the direction of departure from Russia has been in effect in this region for more than a day.
In the Altai Territory, traffic on one of the regional highways was temporarily stopped due to flooding of the roadway by flood waters. In the Kurgan region, traffic on two regional highways was stopped for the same reason.
Since yesterday, truck traffic has been temporarily restricted in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) on the more than 130-kilometer section of the A-360 Lena federal highway from 268 km to 401 km due to adverse weather conditions in the form of heavy snowfall, blizzard and the resulting visibility restrictions.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recommends that motorists, when planning long-distance trips in these and neighboring regions, monitor the weather forecast and media information from traffic closures or restrictions. Currently, traffic police officers are working on problematic sections of the highway, all measures are being taken to prevent complications of the road situation and prevent possible traffic jams. Traffic police crews accompany snow removal equipment to ensure its unhindered passage, take measures to eliminate traffic jams and normalize traffic.
In case of adverse weather conditions, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that drivers refrain from traveling by car and use public transport, as well as not leave cars on the roadway so as not to interfere with public utilities to clear roads. A similar advice is addressed to novice drivers, who often get into accidents precisely when weather conditions worsen, as they do not yet have the necessary driving skills.
"In bad weather conditions, traffic police inspectors are focused on providing assistance to road users on country roads. In case of a difficult situation on the roads, all road users can contact the State Traffic Inspectorate for help around the clock. The staff will try to provide all possible assistance, if necessary, they will help with calling a technical service or tow truck," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.
The day before, it was reported that in the first three months of 2025, 24 thousand road accidents occurred in Russia, which is 1.9% more than in the same period last year. As a result of these accidents, 2.6 thousand people died (-0.8%), 30.6 thousand were injured (+1.4%).
