The European Union (EU) is negotiating with various countries regarding the use of frozen assets. This was stated on April 10 by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas.

She noted that issues are currently being discussed with 27 member states regarding the use of frozen Russian assets.

"We are preparing because there are certain risks and ways to reduce these risks. And some countries are categorically against this," Kallas said in an interview with ERR.

However, she did not name the countries that opposed the use of Russian assets, adding that this information is not difficult to obtain.

On February 24, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the Russian assets frozen by the EU could not be confiscated, as this initiative contradicts the laws of international law.

On February 4, the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, said that the EU was working on the "most creative" use of Russian frozen assets to provide assistance to Ukraine.
