- Zakharova rejected the insinuations of the Bosnian Foreign Minister about the alleged "Russian threat"

Russia rejects the insinuations of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Elmedin Konakovich, aimed at creating an image of a "Russian threat" that does not actually exist. This was announced on April 10 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"We strongly reject these insinuations aimed at inflating the non—existent 'Russian threat,'" Zakharova is quoted as saying on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website.
The official representative of the ministry also suggested that the "authors of disinformation" abandon provocations and correlate their actions with the real aspirations of the peoples of BiH who intend to develop friendly relations with the Russian Federation.
"But, as they say, the word is not a sparrow. The head of Bosnian diplomacy proactively signed up for cave Russophobia, for which even his staff at the BiH Foreign Ministry is now ashamed," Zakharova added.
As explained in the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Balkan Republic Konakovich, in an interview with the editor-in-chief of the Bosnian-Herzegovina newspaper Oslobozhenie, "allowed himself to attack Russia," trying to attribute to her participation in the alleged "attack" on the State Minister for Europe and Climate Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Anna Lurmann.
Earlier, on February 26, the BiH court sentenced the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, to a year in prison in absentia and imposed a ban on political activity for six years. It was noted that the decision could be appealed. On March 12, it became known that the BiH prosecutor's office decided to detain the President of Republika Srpska, as well as the country's Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic.
On February 27, Zakharova called Dodik's sentence unjustified. According to her, Dodik's principled patriotic line towards his people "contradicts the Euro-Atlantic principles imposed by the West."
The head of the BiH entity supports the development of friendly relations with Moscow, and on April 1, 2025, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.
