US President Donald Trump postponed the imposition of duties for 90 days for 75 countries due to the panic of citizens. This was reported on April 8 by The New York Times.

"I thought people were going a little overboard. They're too excited. They're a little scared," Trump is quoted as saying in the publication.

In addition, the American leader described the market situation as "quite gloomy" after his decision to impose duties.

On April 9, Trump announced that the United States would increase trade duties on China to 125%. He also added that more than 75 countries have summoned U.S. representatives for trade talks, which is why Trump is lowering the mutual tariff.

The next day, CNN, citing informed sources, reported that the reason why Trump suspended the introduction of "reciprocal" duties against 75 countries for 90 days was the concern of American Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

On April 2, Trump announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%.
