Memorial plaques to Dostoevsky and Stolypin are being dismantled in Vilnius.


Memorial plaques to Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky and statesman, Prime Minister of the Russian Empire Pyotr Stolypin in Vilnius will be dismantled by a decision taken by the city government council. This was reported on April 9 by the Delfi publication.
"A decision has been made to dismantle a memorial plaque to the writer Fyodor Dostoevsky on Digioi Street, and a memorial plaque to the Russian politician of the twentieth century, Pyotr Stolypin, on Shvanto Styapano Street," the publication says.
It is specified that memorial plaques to poet Ludas Gira and writer Konstantin Vorobyov will also be dismantled. In addition, the meeting decided to remove the memorial plaque to sculptor Mark Antonokolsky in Russian. Instead, a sign with a text in Lithuanian will be hung.
On April 2, the Russian Embassy in Estonia announced that employees of the Estonian Military Museum had destroyed monuments in honor of Soviet sailors, soldiers and officers who liberated the republic from Nazi invaders at the Tallinn Military Cemetery.
