Psychiatrist Sergey Tarasov warned that chronic lack of sleep can cause the destruction of immunity and memory impairment.

In conversation with aif.ru On Wednesday, April 9, a specialist explained that the lack of a full night's sleep increases health risks, negatively affecting both physical and mental health.

"It weakens the immune system, impairs memory, concentration, and mood. Chronic lack of sleep increases the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, mood disorders, depression, as well as cognitive decline and deterioration of general well-being," the specialist emphasized.

According to him, daytime sleep can temporarily improve concentration and performance, but it does not compensate for the chronic lack of nighttime sleep.

Tarasov added that a night's sleep is of unique importance for the regulation of circadian rhythms and deep phases of the body's recovery.
