The wife of Canadian hockey player Wayne Gretzky, Janet Jones, presented Anastasia Shubskaya, the wife of Russian forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club, Anastasia Shubskaya, with a ring decorated with eight diamonds, in honor of her husband's record for goals scored in the National Hockey League (NHL). Gretzky announced this on April 9.

"After I broke Gordie Howe's record, his wife Colleen bought my wife a bracelet. A month ago, my wife Janet said: "Colleen started a tradition. I'm not sure if anyone will beat Alex's record, but I want to give his wife something unique." She chose an eight-diamond ring," Gretzky told The Athletic.

It is specified that Jones presented the ring to Ovechkin's wife during the celebration, which was held in honor of the record set by the Russian hockey player.

Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the NHL regular season on April 6 in a match against the New York Islanders, breaking Gretzky's record of 894 goals scored.

The Russian hockey player was congratulated on the record by the TV channels of the National Media Group and Sergey Zhukov. The performer dedicated a clip to the hockey player's favorite song from the repertoire of the musical group with a modified text in honor of the record goal to the historical achievement.
