Washington will suspend additional import duties for 90 days for a number of countries. This was announced on April 9 by US President Donald Trump on the Truth Social network.

The decision concerns more than 75 countries that have approached the American leadership to negotiate on trade issues. Trump stressed that these states "have not taken any retaliatory measures against the United States," which was the reason for a 90-day pause with a significantly lower level of retaliatory duties of 10%.

The US president indicated that the decision would take effect immediately.

In addition, Trump said that the United States would increase trade duties on China to 125%.

"Due to China's disrespect for global markets, I am raising the tariffs levied by the United States of America on China to 125%, with immediate effect," he wrote.

Trump announced large-scale trade measures on April 2. Base tariffs of 10% were introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%. Later, the United States raised duties against China to 104%.
