The troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front and the allied Anglo-American troops cut through the front of the German troops with a blow from the east and west. In honor of this, a fireworks display was announced on April 27, the Izvestia newspaper reports.

"On April 27, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front and the allied Anglo-American forces with twenty-four artillery volleys from three hundred and twenty—four guns," the publication says.

There were exactly 12 days left until the Great Victory.

German troops stationed in Northern Germany are cut off from soldiers in the southern regions of the country.

The material was published as part of the Izvestia special project "80 days to Victory."
