North of Vienna, the troops of the front occupied the settlements of Berngardstal, Wilfersdorf, Asparn, Ladendorf in Austria. The population of Austrian villages and towns welcomes the Red Army, Izvestia reports.

"The German military authorities ordered the population to leave the city within three hours, but almost all residents remained in place. Only Burgomaster Bryutzer, the leaders of fascist organizations and Nazi officials escaped with the Germans. The majority of the residents did not want to leave," the newspaper notes.

There were exactly 20 days left until the Great Victory.

At the same time, British bombers raided Berlin. The Allied offensive continues, according to the Izvestia article.

The material was published as part of the Izvestia special project "80 days to Victory."
