On April 14, troops of the 3rd Belorussian Front occupied more than 60 settlements and the railway stations of Neukuren and Seerappen on the Zemland Peninsula northwest and west of Konigsberg, correspondents of the Izvestia newspaper reported.

"In the battles for April 14 in this area, the front's troops captured more than 7,000 German soldiers and officers," the newspaper cites the figures.

There were exactly 25 days left until the Great Victory.

Also on this day, Red Army soldiers liberated settlements in Czechoslovakia, east and southwest of the city of Hodonin, and in the lands of Austria, north and northeast of Vienna.

West of Vienna, soldiers of the 3rd Ukrainian Front crossed the Traisen River and captured more than 60 other settlements, including the large Pischelsdorf and Michelhausen, as well as the railway stations of Trasdorf and Gemeinlebarn.

The material was published as part of the Izvestia special project "80 days to Victory."
