- In the west of Germany, the memory of Soviet prisoners of war who died during the Second World War was honored

A ceremony in memory of the Soviet prisoners of war who died during World War II was held at the Northern Cemetery of the city of Siegburg (federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia) in western Germany. This was announced on April 9 on the website of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Bonn.
It is specified that more than fifty people took part in the event, including the Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Bonn Oleg Krasnitsky, representatives of associations and organizations of Russian-speaking compatriots of the western regions of Germany, parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church and the German public, as well as volunteers and activists involved in war memorial work in Germany.
"In his address, Ambassador S.Y.Nechaev expressed gratitude to the participants of the event for their commitment to preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War abroad, as well as for caring for our war graves and memorials. He emphasized the inadmissibility of dividing Soviet victims of Nazi aggression on a national basis," the website reported.
At the end of the event, wreaths and flowers were laid at the memorial.
On February 2, in the Austrian city of Mauthausen, representatives of the Russian Embassy in Vienna and activists paid tribute to the memory of Soviet soldiers who organized the escape from the concentration camp of the same name in 1945. In addition, the descendants of the Red Army soldiers also came to pay tribute to the memory.
