Russian freestyle wrestler Zaur Uguev won the 61 kg weight class at the European Championships in Bratislava. This became known on April 9th.
In the fight for the championship, the 30-year-old Russian defeated the Armenian athlete Arsen Harutyunyan. This is the fifth gold medal in the collection of Russian wrestlers. Prior to that, the award was won by Nachyn Mongush (up to 57 kg), Ibrahim Ibrahimov (up to 65 kg), David Bayev (up to 70 kg) and Ahmed Usmanov (up to 79 kg).
Uguev has won Olympic gold in Tokyo, two gold medals at the World Championships (2018, 2019) and at the World Cup (2020).
The tournament in Bratislava will last until April 13. Athletes from Russia compete at the tournament under the banner of the United World of Wrestling.
Mongush and Ibragimov's victory was reported to the wound in the afternoon. Mongush defeated Serbian athlete Azamat Tuskaev, and Ibragimov defeated Khamzat Arsamerzuev from France.
