China warns citizens against traveling to the United States amid trade war

Chinese authorities have warned their citizens against traveling to the United States amid a worsening trade war between the two countries. This was confirmed on April 9 by a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Tourism.
"Due to the deterioration of trade relations between China and the United States and security issues in America, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism recommends that Chinese citizens carefully assess the risks of traveling to the United States and exercise caution," Bloomberg quotes an excerpt from the statement.
In addition, the government urges Chinese citizens to think twice "before boarding a flight to the United States," the agency reports.
On April 2, US President Donald Trump announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%. Later, the United States raised duties against China to 104%.
Earlier in the day, the Chinese authorities decided to raise duties on imported goods from the United States to 84% as a mirror measure. It is specified that the additional tariff rate will apply to all imported goods.
