A criminal case has been opened in Cheboksary against three minors aged 16 and 17 after the desecration of the Eternal Flame at the monument of military Glory. This was reported on April 9 in the press service of the SU IC of the Russian Federation for Chuvashia.

"The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Chuvashia has opened a criminal case against three residents of Cheboksary aged 16 and 17 years. They are suspected of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Desecration of symbols of military glory of Russia committed by a group of persons")," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

According to the investigation, on April 5, on the territory of the Pobeda Memorial Park, the suspects desecrated a monument in honor of Cheboksary soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) of 1941-1945.

It is noted that at the moment the circumstances of the incident are being established, as well as investigative measures are being carried out.

The day before, the police detained three suspects of desecrating the Eternal Flame. It was noted that information was received about young people drinking beer, throwing garbage and not responding to comments at the Eternal Flame on the Monument of Military Glory in the capital of Chuvashia.
