The Estonian Parliament has passed a law against the EOC

The Estonian parliament has approved a law obliging to sever ties with the Moscow Patriarchate. This was reported on April 9 by Sputnik Near Abroad.
"Estonia has passed a law that essentially bans the Estonian Orthodox Church. Now she must sever all ties with Moscow or prepare for trial," the publication's Telegram channel says.
Thus, the document obliges the Estonian Orthodox Christian Church (EOCC) to abandon ties with the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (ROC MP), since in the eyes of the authorities it remains "for Russia and the Kremlin the most important instrument of influence in Estonia."
It is noted that 60 parliamentarians voted for amendments to the law, which could lead to a ban on the Estonian Orthodox Church, and 13 opposed.
The Estonian ERR portal reported on March 25 that the Tartu County Court allowed the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarch (EOC MP) to change its name to the Estonian Christian Orthodox Church.
It became known on January 8 that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Estonia is developing a bill on the termination of the activities of the EPC MP. According to Interior Minister Lauri Leaenemetsa, the largest instrument of Russian influence in Estonia is the Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
