Doctors of the L. M. Roshal Children's Clinical Center rescued a 16-year-old teenager who had not taken off his lenses for three months. This was announced on April 9 by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow region.

The boy himself admitted that for three months he had not removed the lenses intended for daily replacement. Specialists diagnosed a corneal ulcer in the left eye, and a foreign body in the form of a tissue villi in the right eye, which was partially covered with newly formed tissues.

"Against the background of the ulcer, there was a high risk of perforation and melting of the corneal layers, which could lead to severe inflammation and even blindness. <...> Thanks to timely treatment, the patient quickly became better, positive dynamics appeared, pain decreased and edema subsided," ophthalmologist Ksenia Taraskova quotes the website of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow region.

The patient was discharged on the seventh day of treatment. Now the teenager will have to undergo rehabilitation and give up contact lenses for at least six months.

Earlier, on February 19, doctors of the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital (RDKB) The Russian Ministry of Health removed a neoplasm from the eye socket of a 12-year-old girl, which rapidly increased and threatened to lose vision. Timely surgical treatment of the tumor made it possible to avoid serious health consequences.
