Russians talked about their plans for the May holidays

Among the Russians surveyed, 35% of respondents will spend the May holidays in their country. This is stated in the results of a survey conducted by the fintech company Humopeu, which was reviewed by Izvestia on April 10.

Another 29% said they had no plans to leave, while 16% wanted to visit a new city in Russia. 10% of the respondents will go to Russian resorts, and 5% will go abroad.

It also turned out that the majority of Russians are going to spend the May holidays with their loved ones: with their parents (25%), with relatives (19%), with family and children (18%). Another 31% will have a vacation with friends, 29% — with a significant other, 14% — with pets, 7% — with colleagues. Some replied that they would celebrate the holidays alone.

25% of the respondents are going to watch movies and TV series, roast kebabs and put the house in order — to do repairs or general cleaning. Another 20% want to walk around the city, 17% plan to play video games, 13% will go shopping or ride bicycles, scooters and skateboards. 10% of respondents answered that they were going to have a picnic in the park, open the summer veranda season, go to an exhibition or a museum in May.

Irina Polyakova, head of the Corporate Customer support service at Humopeu, noted that, according to the YUKASSA service, Russians are interested in cultural leisure during the May holidays.

"From March 15 to April 5, 2025, the number of theater ticket purchases increased by 5% compared to the same period last year. Turnover in this category increased by 18%, and the average check increased by 12% to 2,186 rubles. In addition, the number of payments in museums and exhibitions increased by 34% year on year. The turnover of payments increased by 20%, and the average check decreased by 10% and amounted to 3961 rubles," she said.

Earlier, on April 3, the OneTwoTrip travel planning service reported that 51% of single tourists will go abroad for the May holidays. At the same time, Istanbul turned out to be the most popular destination for travelers.
