An attempt to organize mass riots and a subsequent coup d'etat in the country has been stopped in Kyrgyzstan, and members of a criminal group have been detained. This was announced on April 9 by the press center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of the country.

It is noted that the department's staff identified the facts and stopped attempts to organize local conflicts with subsequent mass protests and riots to incite ethnic hatred.

"The main goal was to destabilize the socio-political situation followed by an attempted coup," the State Committee for National Security said.

Since the beginning of the year, the state committee has been monitoring the group, which is funded by "ideological inspirers" from the opposition. One of its organizers is allegedly hiding in the UAE. Members of the community were supposed to make a fake provocative video in which a "beaten, half-naked Kyrgyz woman" would tell how she was allegedly abused by foreigners.

"The footage was supposed to touch on the patriotic feelings of Kyrgyzstanis, and provoke events similar to those that took place in May 2024 in Bishkek. Then specially trained combat groups with firearms would organize fights and pogroms in places where foreigners live and work," the Sputnik Kyrgyzstan Telegram channel says.

It is clarified that the organization of the actions of the instigators of the riots was conducted from abroad, the State Committee for National Security continues to work to capture the organizers.

On March 5, the press center of the State Committee for National Security reported that 30 members of a terrorist structure who planned to commit terrorist attacks against officials, security services and law enforcement agencies were detained in Kyrgyzstan. The members of the cell systematically held meetings where radical ideology was propagandized, and also collected money to finance terrorism, the department noted.
