The movement of unmanned trucks was launched in the Moscow region

On the Central Ring Road (CKAD) in the Moscow region, the movement of trucks began in a completely unmanned mode. Its launch was given by the first deputy head of the Ministry of Transport, Valentin Ivanov, the Izvestia correspondent reports on April 9.
In September last year, the movement of trucks in a completely unmanned mode was launched along the M-11 Neva highway between Moscow and St. Petersburg. Autonomous trucks have been running since the summer of 2022, but until then the driver was required to be behind the wheel at the entry points to the city. Autonomous trucks are planned to be launched on the M-12 Vostok in 2026.
According to RIA Novosti, 67 unmanned trucks are currently allowed to be transported. The mileage of the vehicles has currently exceeded 7.2 million km, and the commercial cargo turnover has amounted to more than 800 thousand cubic meters of cargo. It is expected that by the end of 2025, the fleet of autonomous trucks in the Russian Federation will grow to 100 vehicles.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the ERA-GLONASS state system began tracking in real time the movement of unmanned trucks on the M-11 Neva highway. The new system will allow the Ministry of Transport and project participants to obtain statistics on the operation of autonomous vehicles, and it is also planned to work out centralized transmission of commands to truck operators and test protection against cyber attacks. Similar monitoring will subsequently be launched on the TSKAD and M-12 Vostok highways.
