- The political scientist predicted a deterioration in Kiev's relations with the United States if the metals deal was rejected.

Several representatives of Ukraine are responsible for signing the rare earth metals deal with the United States, so there is no need to talk about its failure yet. This was announced on Wednesday, April 9, by American political scientist Malek Dudakov, commenting on a statement by Verkhovna Rada deputy Bohdan Kitsak that Kiev could not accept the terms of Washington's deal on rare earths.
The day before, Dubinsky said that the goal of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is to disrupt the agreement with the United States on fossil fuels and make the agreement null and void from a legal point of view.
"It's too early to talk about what will happen with this rare earth deal. It is not an ordinary member of the Verkhovna Rada who is responsible for signing it — Zelensky's office, Andrei Ermak and all the other people who make key decisions in Kiev. We haven't seen any reaction from them yet," the analyst said in an interview with RT.
At the same time, the American expert expressed confidence that if Zelensky's office still refuses to sign the deal, Ukraine's relations with US President Donald Trump will continue to deteriorate.
"Trump will cut funding for Ukraine and reduce intelligence sharing. Perhaps he will launch some kind of anti-corruption investigations into how the Ukrainian tranches were distributed and mastered," the expert said.
He added that Trump will also actively demand and exert pressure to hold elections in Ukraine in order to arrange a change of power, hoping to bring in someone more manageable instead of Zelensky.
Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that Ukrainian officials will arrive in the United States on April 11-12 to negotiate a deal on rare earth metals and restore infrastructure after the possible end of the conflict, IA Regnum reports.
According to the newspaper, the delegation will include the Deputy Ministers of Economy and Justice of Ukraine, as well as an unnamed international law firm that will advise the Ukrainian side, according to the website. kp.ru .
At the same time, it is noted that the delegation will not be represented by more senior officials, since the upcoming negotiations with the administration of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will be only advisory in nature.
On April 4, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant expressed hope that a resource deal with Ukraine would be signed during his visit next week, NSN reports. He added that the American side considers the signing of the agreement with Kiev as a situation of mutual benefit.
The Wall Street Journal reported on March 29 that Ukraine would not be able to accept the new terms of the resource deal with the United States. According to the newspaper, the new agreement now provides Washington with not only access to Ukraine's rare earth metals, but also the opportunity to benefit from Kiev's economic projects in the field of metals, oil, gas and other natural resources.
The next day, American leader Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky wanted to abandon the deal on critically important mineral resources.
