Sollers' investments in the UAZ site will exceed 16 billion rubles

The Sollers Group will invest over 16 billion rubles in the modernization of the UAZ site, which is planned for the period from 2023 to 2026. This was announced on April 9 by the group's CEO Nikolay Sobolev.
"All current and upcoming events to modernize the site and upgrade technological alterations will significantly improve the quality of the UAZ car range," TASS quoted Sobolev as saying.
Sollers plans to launch a new pressing line for stamping the bodies of Sollers pickups and SUVs, as well as UAZ models. For the current year, the company is going to carry out a deep modernization of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant's paint complex, primarily the cataphoresis line, the CEO noted.
In the summer of 2025, it is planned to start production of safety system components with a high level of localization, the list includes steering wheels using local alloys, airbags, seat belts and electronic control units.
Sobolev also said that starting from June 1 of this year, Sollers will index the salaries of workers at the Ulyanovsk Automobile and Zavolzhsky Motor Plants by 10%. The group has been conducting annual salary indexation for five years, he said.
Earlier, on April 7, it was reported that a large-scale assembly of UAZ cars had started in Cuba. The planned volume of production of Russian-made cars on the island after the enterprise reaches its design capacity will be up to 500 vehicles per year.
On April 2, serial production of new manual transmissions for UAZ Profi and Sollers models began at Sollers Transmission Manufacturing. UAZ Profi semi-trucks with rear-axle drive and diesel engine will be put on the UAZ conveyor in April 2025.
