Happy Palm Sunday: touching pictures

A week before Easter, Orthodox believers celebrate the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, popularly called Palm Sunday. Traditionally, willow branches are consecrated in temples on this day, which are then carefully preserved throughout the year. Izvestia has prepared pictures and postcards for the bright celebration.
Heartfelt Christian Palm Sunday Pictures
According to the Gospel, a few days before the Jewish Passover (Passover), Jesus went to Jerusalem to receive the sufferings of the cross. On the way, he resurrected the righteous Lazarus from Bethany. At the time of Christ's arrival, the man had been dead for four days. But when the Son of God came to the place of his burial and said: "Lazarus, get out!" — the deceased came out of the cave alive and well, and only the funeral veil wrapped around his body reminded of his tragic death.
The news of the miraculous resurrection quickly reached Jerusalem, where pilgrims from all over the country arrived for the celebration. Therefore, Christ, who came riding on a donkey, was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at the gates of the city. People greeted him as the long—awaited messiah and threw palm leaves on the road in front of him, a symbol of royal power.
The celebration of this event was established in Jerusalem in the III–IV centuries. Palm leaves were the main attribute of the solemn service there. However, in Russia and other northern countries, they have been replaced with willow twigs. Hence the popular name of the holiday — Palm Sunday.
Today, the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem is one of the most important holidays preceding Easter. On this day, believers bring willow branches to churches. They are consecrated the day before during the all-night vigil or at the morning liturgy. After the service, the willow is brought home and placed next to the icons. It is supposed to be kept throughout the year, and burned on the next holiday.

In recent years, believers have also often exchanged Palm Sunday postcards on messengers and social networks. Most often, they depict the main attribute of the holiday — willow, as well as temples, candles, Christ, white doves and painted eggs. Such pictures not only cheer up, but also serve as a good reminder of the essence of the celebration.
You can add warm wishes to a postcard or a themed picture. Here are some examples:
"Congratulations on Palm Sunday! May this bright holiday fill your life with love and grace. I wish you to always follow the guiding star of the Orthodox faith, strive for spiritual growth, purity of thoughts and nobility of deeds!"
"Happy Palm Sunday, the day of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem! On the eve of Easter, I wish you peace of mind and good health. May your faith shine brighter than the evening sun, and your heart remain free from harmful passions, sorrows and disappointments!"
"Happy Palm Sunday, my dears! Let the magical willow twigs banish sadness, fill the day with comfort and warmth. I wish you to live in harmony with yourself and others, cherish the spark of faith in your soul, cultivate the seeds of kindness with love, develop your talents and fulfill your dreams!"
How to congratulate your family and friends on Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday is a significant holiday for Orthodox believers. Therefore, it is important that congratulations on this day are not only sincere, but also appropriate. This will let the person know that he is understood and respected.
Unlike Easter, the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem does not have a special greeting, which is pronounced by believers at a meeting, therefore any polite address is allowed, depending on the degree of proximity. Congratulations can be given both in the morning and in the afternoon, after the festive service. But during the service in the temple, it is better not to be distracted by conversations, even if it is a great celebration.
The Church does not impose any restrictions on the content of congratulations. It may contain wishes for health, family well-being, peace, love, etc. A bouquet of consecrated willow will be a good addition to kind words.
If it is not possible to meet with an acquaintance, friend or relative in person, congratulations can be sent via messenger or SMS, supplemented with a colorful postcard.
"Happy Palm Sunday! May the light of the church lamps and the softness of the willow fill your soul with love, inspiration and grace. I wish you to always follow the path of faith, kindness, compassion and mercy."
"Congratulations on Palm Sunday! May the joy and grace of the bright holiday give hope, brighten life with love, beauty and harmony. I wish you pure and strong faith, wisdom, patience and prosperity!"
"Palm Sunday has arrived! On this bright and solemn day, I sincerely wish you happiness, peace and warmth. May the spring sun dispel gloomy thoughts, and the fluffy willow will bring joy and comfort. May the guardian angel protect you and your loved ones from diseases and troubles!"
