Spring hunting season starts in Kamchatka


The hunting season for brown bears, waterfowl and stone grouse begins in Kamchatka. Hunters can come to the regional Ministry of Forestry to apply for a permit to extract hunting resources in public lands.
According to Yulia Polkanova, a consultant at the licensing department of the State Okhotreestr, quoted by KamchatkaMedia news agency, the start of the season is scheduled for Friday, April 11.
This year, in connection with the appeals of hunting users and municipal administrations, it was decided to change the timing of the start of spring hunting for waterfowl. It will start earlier than usual in most areas of Kamchatka.
So, it will be possible to hunt a waterfowl in the Yelizovsky district, Ust-Bolsheretsky and Bystrinsky districts from April 26 and 27. Later, this can be done in other municipalities. Grouse hunting will open on May 10.
Earlier, on March 31, it was reported that a criminal case had been opened against a resident of the village of Alyabyevsky in the Sovetsky district of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug due to illegal hunting of wild moose. The poacher was detained in the courtyard of the house while butchering the head of a dead animal.
