- Peskov called the detention of an employee of the Russian Foreign Ministry in France unacceptable.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the detention of an employee of the Russian Foreign Ministry in France on April 9, pointing out that the incident was unacceptable and contrary to Paris' international obligations.
"These are completely unacceptable actions. They contradict all the obligations of the French Republic," Peskov said at a briefing.
According to him, representatives of the Russian consular service were not allowed to visit the detainee for a long time.
"We condemn such actions of France, we consider them unacceptable. Of course, this further aggravates our bilateral relations, which are already damaged by the French authorities," the Kremlin spokesman stressed.
Earlier that day, the French ambassador to Moscow was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with the detention of an employee of the Russian ministry by the French border service. Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, clarified that a computer and a phone were seized from an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and an employee of the Russian consulate sent to the airport waited almost seven hours for access to a colleague.
