- Zakharova announced Germany's plans to expel representatives of the Russian Federation from the celebrations on May 9.

The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs has explicitly recommended that federal, regional and local organizations expel Russian officials from events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory. This was announced on April 9 at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
She noted that earlier the German authorities had suggested simply not inviting Russian representatives to memorial events.
"Now there is a significant amendment. The German Foreign Ministry recommends <..."organizations that will hold commemorative events on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the end of the monstrous war, World War II, <...> should not only not invite Russian and Belarusian representatives, but also expel them if they appear," Zakharova said.
Zakharova noted that the order to expel the Russian representatives was made by the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Burbock, who claims to be president of the UN General Assembly in the jubilee year for the victory over Nazism.
On March 31, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for a tough fight against the rewriting of history by the European Union (EU) countries. He stressed that in some countries of the union, the criminals convicted by the Nuremberg Tribunal are being equalized with those who liberated Europe from fascism.
