In Moscow, 95% of orphans and children left without parental care have found foster families, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin's Telegram channel.

According to him, about 17 thousand children are being raised in the capital's foster families. Fewer than a thousand children remain in specialized institutions. Since 2010, the number of children in orphanages has decreased almost fivefold.

The city is doing everything to ensure that they receive parental care. Since 2014, we have been implementing a project of property support for foster families. Thanks to her, 384 children have found a home, including teenagers, children with disabilities, and those with siblings," Sobyanin wrote.

The Moscow foster care support system includes not only financial assistance, but also professional advice from lawyers, psychologists, and social workers. Every family that has adopted a child has a personal supervisor in the guardianship authorities, Sobyanin recalled.

In 2010, the portal "My New Family" was created, which was visited by more than 1.6 million users. The website contains information about the support of orphaned children, the work of guardianship and guardianship authorities. There is also an opportunity to subscribe to updates of the regional database of children in need of a family device.

25 special schools have been opened in Moscow for those who are just aspiring to become foster parents. In them, future moms and dads are trained, receive knowledge and support from specialists. In 2024, more than 3 thousand people passed it.
