The Chinese authorities intend to take drastic measures in response to the duties of US President Donald Trump in the amount of 104%. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian at a briefing on April 9.

"The legitimate development rights of the Chinese people cannot be taken away, and China's sovereignty, security, and development interests are not allowed to be infringed upon. We will continue to take decisive and effective measures to protect our legitimate rights and interests," RIA Novosti quoted Lin Jian as saying

In addition, as reported by Reuters, China plans to hold a meeting with senior management to discuss measures to stimulate domestic consumption and stabilize the market.

"Senior officials from the State Council and several government and regulatory agencies are expected to attend the meeting," two sources said, declining to give their names as they were not authorized to speak to the media, the newspaper said.

Earlier, on April 7, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that the abuse of U.S. duties is economic bullying.

On April 8, the US authorities increased import duties on goods from China to 104% due to China's refusal to lift retaliatory measures.
