American leader Donald Trump said on April 8 that he was confident in China's desire to conclude a trade deal with the United States.

He noted that at the moment, the United States is charging 104% duties on Chinese products and will continue to do so until Beijing is ready to conclude a trade deal with the American side.

"So it will be. I think they'll make a deal at some point. China will make [a deal]. They want to make a deal. They just don't know how to start it because they are proud people," the US president said at a fundraising event for the Republican National Committee.

In addition, the American leader added that the Chinese side reacts to the imposed duties "not according to the rules." In his opinion, China is carrying out some currency manipulation, which allows them to offset the cost of paying tariffs.

In addition, Trump noted that Beijing levies duties ranging from 100% to 125% on American goods. He said that "it sounds ridiculous" when comparing Chinese tariffs with US duties.

On the same day, the American leader announced that the imposed US duties bring about $2 billion in profit to the state treasury. In addition, Trump added that more than 70 countries have expressed their willingness to negotiate with the United States on the issue of imposed duties.

At the same time, it was reported that the US authorities increased import duties on goods from China to 104%. It was noted that the tariffs were imposed because China has not lifted its retaliatory measures.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on April 7 that the US abuse of duties is economic bullying, damaging not only other countries, but also Washington itself.
