Crews of T-80BVM tanks of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Center group of forces destroyed manpower and strong points of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from closed firing positions in the Red Army area of the special military operation (SVO). This was announced on April 9 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The ministry clarified that tankers also provide active support to assault units, are engaged in their transportation and landing in forest belts, disrupt enemy rotations, and destroy various equipment, including Western production.

"We are supporting our infantry, which is advancing through the forest belts. We mainly work from closed firing positions on enemy dugouts. <...> The main difficulty now for both us and the infantry is that the trees are all bald, so the enemy can see us further, notice us faster, and apply pressure to us," said tank company commander Alexei Zainullin.

Basically, tankers work from closed combat positions with constant adjustment of fire by operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). They carry out combat missions on a daily basis, thereby allowing the Russian military to move forward.

On April 8, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that a 152-millimeter Hyacinth-B cannon of the 3rd Combined Arms Army of the Southern Group of Forces destroyed a D-30 howitzer and a dugout with AFU personnel near the village of Grigorovka in the Seversky direction. Target detection and fire correction were provided by operators of reconnaissance drones of the 7th separate Motorized Rifle Brigade.
