By focusing on remilitarization, Germany plans to accumulate debts in order to implement an 800 billion euro European Union (EU) rearmament program in a few years. This was announced on Wednesday, April 9, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"Now we see how Germany openly proclaimed the slogan of remilitarization, changed the constitution for this, and will borrow money in order to implement an 800 billion euro arms program in three to four years," he told TASS.

He also pointed out that the ideology of Nazism is now increasingly manifested in Germany, despite the verdicts of the Nuremberg Tribunal and the current constitutional prohibitions. According to him, the old "Nazi instincts" are genetically breaking through in the country.

"Germany certainly wants to regain its former greatness, and genetically, for this purpose, they have old instincts, Nazi instincts," the minister noted.

Lavrov added that the situation goes beyond Germany. In this context, he mentioned the Baltic States, for which, in his opinion, Russophobia has become an integral part of everyday life.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced on March 6 that during the summit in Brussels, EU leaders agreed on an 800 billion euro plan for the militarization of Europe. During a speech to reporters in Brussels on March 4, she shared that the rearmament plan is dedicated to how to use all the financial levers at the disposal of the EU to help members of the association quickly and significantly increase defense spending as a matter of urgency.
