Slovakia opposes new package of European sanctions against Russia

Slovakia does not plan to support the 17th package of European sanctions against Russia. This was told to Izvestia by the head of the parliamentary Committee on International Affairs, Marian Carey.
Carey pointed out that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban oppose the adoption of sanctions that would harm states.
"We don't want to support new sanctions," he said.
In addition, the ruling SMER party told Izvestia that a group of Slovak deputies will arrive in Russia at the end of April, and in May they plan to create a parliamentary friendship group with Russia and Belarus in Bratislava.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on April 8 that Europe's sanctions policy against Russia had failed completely. He noted that the anti-Russian restrictions had hit the EU countries themselves instead of the Russian Federation.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 18 that Russian entrepreneurs had successfully adapted to the Western sanctions mechanisms by creating alternative ways of interacting with foreign partners.
