The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Roscosmos are working on creating a detailed plan to remove the International Space Station (ISS) from orbit. This was announced on April 9 by NASA Deputy Administrator for Space Operations Ken Bowersox.

"Together we are developing a detailed plan to shut down the station. There is a possibility that it will be later, there is a possibility that it will be earlier if something bad happens to the station," Bowersox told TASS.

He added that Washington and Moscow regularly discuss plans to end the operation of the ISS. According to him, the United States plans to invest in the project until 2030, and Russia — until 2028, and the corresponding position has not changed since last year.

Dmitry Bakanov, CEO of Roscosmos, said on April 8 that representatives of the Russian corporation and NASA discussed plans for the development of orbital space after the completion of the ISS project and plans for the development of the lunar program. According to him, Roscosmos is awaiting the appointment of a new NASA administrator, Jared Isaakman, in order to reach agreements on all issues.
