The British military will take part in the deployment in the Indo-Pacific region.

Approximately 4,000 British troops will participate in a large operation called Highmast, in which an aircraft carrier strike group will deploy to the Indo-Pacific region. This was announced on April 8 on the website of the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain.
"About 4,000 British troops will participate in the deployment," the ministry said in a statement.
It is specified that approximately 2.5 thousand sailors of the British Royal Navy, about 900 more army soldiers, as well as about 600 people from the Air Force of the state will participate in the operation. The deployment will last eight months.
"The Indo-Pacific region is a critically important region for UK trade, with imports and exports in the region amounting to billions of pounds for the UK economy, and the deployment will provide British companies with the opportunity to participate in trade events during port visits," the press service noted.
It is specified that the operation will be led by the British aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales. She will leave Portsmouth on April 22, along with other ships and aircraft, and head to the Mediterranean Sea, where she will conduct exercises to strengthen European security.
On April 1, Reuters reported that the Chinese military announced joint army, naval and missile exercises around the island of Taiwan. The exercises mainly focus on combat readiness patrols from sea and air.
