Overchuk spoke about the discussion in the EAEU on the abolition of roaming

Russia has initiated a discussion on the platform of the Eurasian Economic Commission on the introduction by mobile operators of comfortable tariffs close to the conditions of the home region. This was reported to Izvestia by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk.
From March 1, 2025, residents of Russia and Belarus can use mobile communication and Internet on the territory of the Union State at comfortable home tariffs.
"Of course, we would like to have similar conditions throughout the EAEU. That is why we initiated a discussion on the platform of the Eurasian Economic Commission. Now we are going through a stage when not everyone is ready to support us. Mobile operators are concerned that the introduction of tariffs closer to the home region will have a negative impact on their revenues, and they are trying to delay the resolution of this issue. We will have to convince our colleagues that the reduction of fees will lead to an increase in mobile traffic between our countries, which will generate more revenue for operators than they have today. We will negotiate, conduct pilot projects, find technical solutions, develop and adopt documents. It is a long process that requires patience and constant unrelenting attention. In principle, this is how decisions are made, but in the end it is a consensus," said the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.
